Director of Finance / Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Utilities Industry

About the Role

A leading utilities provider is seeking an experienced Director of Finance / Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee financial operations, accounting, budgeting, and investment management. This role will play a critical part in ensuring financial sustainability and operational efficiency, working within a mission-driven organization focused on providing reliable and sustainable utility services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting, budgeting, and procurement/warehouse operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Evaluate financial policies and procedures, recommending improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Manage financial reporting, preparing detailed reports on business activity, financial position, and performance.
  • Direct depreciation rates for capital assets, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Oversee and manage the organization’s investment portfolio, working closely with financial advisors.
  • Lead financial technology initiatives, assessing and optimizing accounting software and financial processes for improved efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in utility accounting or financial leadership within a regulated industry.
  • 10+ years of supervisory experience, leading high-performing finance teams.
  • CPA designation and annual CPE preferred.
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, compliance, and strategic planning.
  • Ability to analyze market trends, utility rates, and financial projections to support business objectives.
